Iris van Herpen @ the ROM
I went to see Iris van Herpen at the ROM yesterday. The pieces were delightfully unwearable. She is Dutch, but not blonde. I totally get the overall colour palette; it reminded me of the false-front buildings lining the canals of her current hometown. Her work conjured thoughts of McQueen; the exhibit revealed that she, in fact, did intern there. She is utilizing technology to make her work. As someone that has a lot of experience 3D printing for commercial purposes; I'm here to tell you they do a lot of work pre-print and post-print. 3D printing is magic, but these enormous pieces require assembly. To the ROM: I'm getting used to the fashion exhibits on the 4th floor. Keep it coming.
